Di tahun 1997 saya bertemu Chrisye sehabis sebuah acara, dan dia berkata, “Bang, saya punya sebuah lagu. Saya sudah coba menuliskan kata-katanya, tapi saya tidak puas. Bisakah Abang tolong tuliskan liriknya?” Karena saya suka lagu-lagu Chrisye, saya katakan bisa. Saya tanyakan kapan mesti selesai. Dia bilang sebulan. Menilik kegiatan saya yang lain, deadline sebulan itu bolehlah. Kaset lagu itu dikirimkannya, berikut keterangan berapa baris lirik diperlukan, dan untuk setiap larik berapa jumlah ketukannya, yang akan diisi dengan suku kata. Chrisye menginginkan puisi relijius.
Kemudian saya dengarkan lagu itu. Indah sekali. Saya suka betul. Sesudah seminggu, tidak ada ide. Dua minggu begitu juga. Minggu ketiga inspirasi masih tertutup. Saya mulai gelisah. Di ujung minggu keempat tetap buntu. Saya heran. Padahal lagu itu cantik jelita. Tapi kalau ide memang macet, apa mau dikatakan. Tampaknya saya akan telepon Chrisye keesokan harinya dan saya mau bilang, ” Chris, maaf ya, macet. Sori.” Saya akan kembalikan pita rekaman itu. Saya punya kebiasaan rutin baca Surah Yasin. Malam itu, ketika sampai ayat 65 yang berbunyi, A’udzubillahi minasy syaithonirrojim. “Alyauma nakhtimu ‘alaa afwahihim, wa tukallimuna aidhihim, wa tasyhadu arjuluhum bimaa kaanu yaksibuun” saya berhenti. Maknanya, “Pada hari ini Kami akan tutup mulut mereka, dan tangan mereka akan berkata kepada Kami, dan kaki mereka akan bersaksi tentang apa yang telah mereka lakukan.” Saya tergugah. Makna ayat tentang Hari Pengadilan Akhir ini luar biasa!
Saya hidupkan lagi pita rekaman dan saya bergegas memindahkan makna itu ke larik-larik lagi tersebut. Pada mulanya saya ragu apakah makna yang sangat berbobot itu akan bisa masuk pas ke dalamnya. Bismillah. Keragu-raguan teratasi dan alhamdulillah penulisan lirik itu selesai. Lagu itu saya beri judul Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata.
Keesokannya dengan lega saya berkata di telepon,” Chris, alhamdulillah selesai”. Chrisye sangat gembira. Saya belum beritahu padanya asal-usul inspirasi lirik tersebut.. Berikutnya hal tidak biasa terjadilah. Ketika berlatih di kamar menyanyikannya baru dua baris Chrisye menangis, menyanyi lagi, menangis lagi, berkali-kali.
Di dalam memoarnya yang dituliskan Alberthiene Endah, Chrisye ? Sebuah Memoar Musikal, 2007 (halaman 308-309), bertutur Chrisye: Lirik yang dibuat Taufiq Ismail adalah satu-satunya lirik dahsyat sepanjang karier, yang menggetarkan sekujur tubuh saya. Ada kekuatan misterius yang tersimpan dalam lirik itu. Liriknya benar-benarbenar mencekam dan menggetarkan. Dibungkus melodi yang begitu menyayat, lagu itu bertambah susah saya nyanyikan! Di kamar, saya berkali-kali menyanyikan lagu itu. Baru dua baris, air mata saya membanjir. Saya coba lagi. Menangis lagi.Yanti sampai syok! Dia kaget melihat respons saya yang tidak biasa terhadap sebuah lagu. Taufiq memberi judul pada lagu itu sederhana sekali, Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata.
Lirik itu begitu merasuk dan membuat saya dihadapkan pada kenyataan, betapa tak berdayanya manusia ketika hari akhir tiba. Sepanjang malam saya gelisah. Saya akhirnya menelepon Taufiq dan menceritakan kesulitan saya. “Saya mendapatkan ilham lirik itu dari Surat Yasin ayat 65…” kata Taufiq. Ia menyarankan saya untuk tenang saat menyanyikannya. Karena sebagaimana bunyi ayatnya, orang memang sering kali tergetar membaca isinya. Walau sudah ditenangkan Yanti dan Taufiq, tetap saja saya menemukan kesulitan saat mencoba merekam di studio. Gagal, dan gagal lagi. Berkali-kali saya menangis dan duduk dengan lemas. Gila! Seumur-umur, sepanjang sejarah karir saya, belum pernah saya merasakan hal seperti ini. Dilumpuhkan oleh lagu sendiri!
Butuh kekuatan untuk bisa menyanyikan lagu itu. Erwin Gutawa yang sudah senewen menunggu lagu terakhir yang belum direkam itu, langsung mengingatkan saya, bahwa keberangkatan ke Australia sudah tak bisa ditunda lagi. Hari terakhir menjelang ke Australia, saya lalu mengajak Yanti ke studio, menemani saya rekaman. Yanti sholat khusus untuk mendoakan saya. Dengan susah payah, akhirnya saya bisa menyanyikan lagu itu hingga selesai. Dan tidak ada take ulang! Tidak mungkin.. Karena saya sudah menangis dan tak sanggup menyanyikannya lagi. Jadi jika sekarang Anda mendengarkan lagu itu, itulah suara saya dengan getaran yang paling autentik, dan tak terulang! Jangankan menyanyikannya lagi, bila saya mendengarkan lagu itu saja, rasanya ingin berlari!
Lagu itu menjadi salah satu lagu paling penting dalam deretan lagu yang pernah saya nyanyikan. Kekuatan spiritual di dalamnya benar-benarbenar meluluhkan perasaan. Itulah pengalaman batin saya yang paling dalam selama menyanyi.
Penuturan Chrisye dalam memoarnya itu mengejutkan saya. Penghayatannya terhadap Pengadilan Hari Akhir sedemikian sensitif dan luarbiasanya, dengan saksi tetesan air matanya. Bukan main. Saya tidak menyangka sedemikian mendalam penghayatannya terhadap makna Pengadilan Hari Akhir di hari kiamat kelak.
Mengenai menangis menangis ketika menyanyi, hal yang serupa terjadi dengan Iin Parlina dengan lagu Rindu Rasul. Di dalam konser atau pertunjukan, Iin biasanya cuma kuat menyanyikannya dua baris, dan pada baris ketiga Iin akan menunduk dan membelakangi penonton menahan sedu sedannya. Demikian sensitif dia pada shalawat Rasul dalam lagu tersebut.

Setelah rekaman Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata selesai, dalam peluncuran album yang saya hadiri, Chrisye meneruskan titipan honorarium dari produser untuk lagu tersebut. Saya enggan menerimanya. Chrisye terkejut. “Kenapa Bang, kurang?” Saya jelaskan bahwa saya tidak orisinil menuliskan lirik lagu Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata itu. Saya cuma jadi tempat lewat, jadi saluran saja. Jadi saya tak berhak menerimanya. Bukankah itu dari Surah Yasin ayat 65, firman Tuhan? Saya akan bersalah menerima sesuatu yang bukan hak saya.
Kami jadi berdebat. Chrisye mengatakan bahwa dia menghargai pendirian saya, tetapi itu merepotkan administrasi. Akhirnya Chrisye menemukan jalan keluar. “Begini saja Bang, Abang tetap terima fee ini, agar administrasi rapi. Kalau Abang merasa bersalah, atau berdosa, nah, mohonlah ampun kepada Allah. Tuhan Maha Pengampun ‘ kan ?”
Saya pikir jalan yang ditawarkan Chrisye betul juga. Kalau saya berkeras menolak, akan kelihatan kaku, dan bisa ditafsirkan berlebihan. Akhirnya solusi Chrisye saya terima. Chrisye senang, saya pun senang.

Pada subuh hari Jum’at, 30 Maret 2007, pukul 04.08, penyanyi legendaris Chrisye wafat dalam usia 58 tahun, setelah tiga tahun lebih keluar masuk rumah sakit, termasuk berobat di Singapura. Diagnosis yang mengejutkan adalah kanker paru-paru stadium empat. Dia meninggalkan isteri, Yanti, dan empat anak, Risty, Nissa, Pasha dan Masha, 9 album proyek, 4 album sountrack, 20 album solo dan 2 filem. Semoga penyanyi yang lembut hati dan pengunjung masjid setia ini, tangan dan kakinya kelak akan bersaksi tentang amal salehnya serta menuntunnya memasuki Gerbang Hari Akhir yang semoga terbuka lebar baginya. Amin.

Caution, Men's Cancer Risk uncircumcised penis!

The Legend of Zorro
The Legend of Zorro (2005) was an interesting film. I’m shocked when I see Orbis Unum symbol. Orbis Unum? E Pluribus Unum? A serpent circling the globe? I think that was a masonic symbol. It looks like a masonic serpent symbolic.
As McGivens (Nick Chinlund) and his men travel to Maderas Cove to pick up the shipment, they pause for water near where Father Quintero is conducting a lesson with the schoolchildren. Joaquin (Adrian Alonso) crawls under the wagon and journeys with McGivens to their destination. Soon after they arrive, Joaquin is caught, but fortunately Zorro (Antonio Banderas) arrives and rescues him. Joaquin shows Zorro a bar of soap that he swiped from the shipment. Zorro is shocked to see that the shipment was just a load of soap. What can McGivens and Armand do with soap?
The bar of soap is marked with the name Orbis Unum and a symbol of a serpent circling the globe. Fray Felipe learns that Orbis Unum is Latin for One World, which is the name of the Knights of Aragon, an ancient religious sect that formed after the Crusades. A prophecy from 1000 years ago reads “There shall be a land in the west of great power that shall rise to threaten the serpent. Only by turning the power onto itself shall the serpent survive.” Fray Felipe and Alejandro conclude that the prophecy means the United States and that Orbis Unum is going to destroy the United States. But… with soap?
It isn’t a common soap, but an explosive soap. I think, Orbis Unum is E Pluribus Unum which mean “Out of Many, One”. It was a Masonic motto that adopted by USA. Masonics want to rule the world. They will not destroy USA in real life, I think. Through USA, Masonics rule the world. Through USA, they build Novus Ordo Seclorum (New World Order).
Knights of Aragon…. I think, they are Knights Templar that formed after the Crusades. Aragon is an autonomous community of Spain. Located in northeastern Spain, the region comprises three provinces from north to south: Huesca, Zaragoza, and Teruel. Its capital is Zaragoza (also called Saragossa in English). There is Masonic temple in Aragon and Catalonia.
So, The Legend of Zorro is one of films that campaigns Masonic Symbols. Although the scenario is rather stange (destroy USA?), but Masonics always have many plan to rule the world and make it into One World. But they will fail as long as Muslims are still fighting against them.

Today facebook has become a common friendship website, meaning that everyone in the world can be a member as long as it meets the requirement facebook. What are the requirements to become? Cadillac Escalade EXT

Summary:
Man, I used to think that the EXT was one of the coolest looking vehicles on the road. Never could I possibly imagine that I would be driving one. Thanks Dad! I also thought that the Hummer was a cool vehicle, but the only thing it is good for is looks. If people in LA with money to spend had brains, they would get an EXT instead of the H2s that I see everywhere. The EXT is so much better than the H2. I would even list it as one of the top 5 autos on the market, with no bias anywhere. The combination of versatility, looks, luxury, power, ride, and handling make it a great car. A Porsche is fast and all, but it doesn't offer everything like the EXT does. The EXT is a complete package. I love to just drive around LA. Its like driving on a soft sofa, and you feel like the king of the road in an EXT. I will probably be fixing it up as time goes by, maybe adding some 24 inch rims and a cool muffler. But even without the "rappers package" an EXT is awesome.
Strengths:
Everything. For a behemoth, the ride and handling is great. Its got a nice luxurious feel to the interior, and their is limited outside noise. I also dig the daytime running lights.
Weaknesses:
It would be cool if they came in 20 inch wheels like the FX. And the steering wheel would be better if it were automatically adjustable like in the new Mercedes'.

Bandung
The earliest reference to the city dates back to 1488, but archaeological findings suggest a type of Homo erectus species had lived on the banks of the Cikapundung River and around the old lake of Bandung. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC) opened plantations in the Bandung area. A supply road connecting Batavia (now Jakarta), Bogor, Cianjur, Bandung, Sumedang and Cirebon was built in 1786. In 1809, Louis Napoleon, the ruler of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its colonies, ordered the Dutch Indies Governor H.W. Daendels to increase the defensive systems of Java against the British from India. Daendels built a road, stretching approximately 1,000 km (621 miles) from the west to the east coast of Java, and passing through Bandung. In 1810, the road was laid down in Bandung and was named De Groote Postweg (or the 'main post road'), the present-day site of Asia-Afrika Street. Under Daendels' orders, R.A. Wiranatakusumah II, the chief administration of the Bandung regency at that time, moved its office from Krapyak, in the south, to a place near a pair of holy city wells (sumur Bandung), the present-day site of the city square (alun-alun). He built his dalem (palace), masjid agung (the grand mosque) and pendopo (public-official meeting place) in the classical orientation. The pendopo faces Tangkuban Perahu mountain, which was believed to have a mystical ambience.
In 1880, the first major railroad between Batavia and Bandung was built, boosting light industry in Bandung. Chinese workers from outside the city flocked in, to help run facilities, services and selling vendor machines. The old Chinatown district in Bandung is still recognisable in the railroad station vicinity. In 1906, Bandung was given the status of gemeente (municipality) and then later as stadsgemeente (city municipality) in 1926.
In the beginning of the 1920s, the Dutch East Indies government made plans to move the capital of Dutch East Indies from Batavia to Bandung. Accordingly, during this decade, the Dutch colonial government started building military barracks, the central government building (Gouvernments Bedrijven, the present-day Gedung Sate) and other government buildings. This plan, however, was cut short by World War II after which the Dutch were not able to re-established their colony.
The fertile area of the Parahyangan Mountains surrounding Bandung supports productive tea plantations. In the nineteenth century, Franz Junghuhn introduced the cinchona (kina) plant. With its cooler elevated landscape, surrounded by major plantations, Bandung became an exclusive European resort area. Rich plantation owners visited the city on weekends, attracting girls and businessmen from the capital, Batavia. Braga Street grew into a promenade street with cafes, restaurants and boutique shops. Two art-deco style hotels, Savoy Homann and Preanger, were built in the vicinity of the Concordia Society, a club house for the wealthy with a large ballroom and a theatre.[14] The nickname "Parijs van Java" was given to the city.
After the Indonesian Independence in 1945, Bandung was determined as the capital of West Java province. During the 1945–1949 independence struggle against the Dutch when they wanted to reclaim their colonies, Bandung was one of the heaviest battle places. The Dutch military commander set an ultimatum for the Indonesian combatants in Bandung to leave the city. In response, on 24 March 1946, much of the southern part of Bandung was deliberately set alight as the combatants left; an event known as the Bandung Lautan Api or 'Bandung Sea of Flame'.
In 1955, the first Asian-African Conference -- also known as the Bandung Conference -- was held in Bandung, attended by head of states representing twenty-nine countries and colonies from Asia and Africa. The conference venue was at the Gedung Merdeka, the former Concordia Society building. The conference announced 10 points of declaration on world peace promotion and oppositions against colonialism, known as the Declaration of Bandung, which followed by wave of nationalism movements around the globe and remapped the world politics. The conference was also the first international conference of colored people in the history of mankind.[19] Richard Wright in his book, The Color Curtain, captured the epic meanings of the conference for people of color around the world. Even black freedom movement activists in the United States referred Bandung as Afro-Asian solidarity in 1960s.
In 1987, the city boundary was expanded with the Greater Bandung (Bandung Raya) plan; a relocation of higher concentration development outside the city in an attempt to dilute some of population in the old city. During its development, however, the city core is often uprooted, old faces are torn down, lot sizes regrouped, and what was idyllic residence is bustling chain supermarkets and rich banks.

Biography of Bob Marley
Robert Nesta Marley
BORN: February 6, 1945, St. Ann, Jamaica
DIED: May 11, 1981, Miami, FL
In the year 1944, Captain Norval Marley married a young Jamaican girl named Cedalla Booker. On February 6, 1945 at two thirty in the morning their son, Robert Nesta Marley was born in his grandfather's house. Soon after Bob was born his father left his mother. He did however give financial support and occasionally returned to see his son.
It was now the late fifties, jobs were scarce in Jamaica, so Bob followed his mother from their home in St. Ann to Trenchtown (West Kingston) to seek employment in the big city. Trenchtown got it's name because it was built over a ditch which drained the sewage of old Kingston. In Trenchtown Bob spent a lot of his time with his good friend Neville Livingstone who people called by his nickname, Bunny. Also in the big city Bob was more exposed to the music which he had loved, including such greats as Fats Domino and Ray Charles. Bob and Bunny attended a music class together which was held by the famous Jamaican singer Joe Higgs. In that class they met Peter Macintosh and soon became good friends.
In the meantime Jamaican music evolving and became very popular throughout the Caribbean due to it's invention of Ska music. When Bob was 16, he started to follow his dream of becoming a musician. Music to many young Jamaicans was an escape from the harshness of everyday life. One of those kids was Jimmy Cliff who at the age of 14 had already recorded a couple of hits. After meeting Bob, Jimmy introduced him to Leslie Kong, a local record producer. Bob followed his advice and auditioned for Leslie Kong. Bob's musical talents shone much more brightly then anyone else that day and found himself in the studio recording his first single "Judge Not". Unfortunately neither "Judge Not" nor his 1962 single "One more cup of Coffee" did very well. Bob soon left Kong after she failed to give him his pay.
The following year Bob, Bunny and some other friends formed the Wailing Wailers. The didn't get off to a great start, after just a couple recording sessions two members, Cherry and Junior Braithwait left the band. The band continued on and were introduced to Clemet Dodd, a producer of the record company Coxsone. It was here where the Wailing Wailers recorded the first song "Simmer Down" which did quite well in Jamaica. To help with the recording of their songs the studio provided several talented Ska musicians. The Wailing Wailers consisting now of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny were starting to become quite popular locally. Their audiences rapidly grew and they recorded several more songs on the Coxsone label which included "It Hurts to be Alone" and "Rule the Roadie" Bob soon took on the role of the leader, being the main songwriter and all.
Bob's life continued to look more bright on February 10, 1966 when Bob Marley married girlfriend Rita Anderson. The next day Bob left for the United States to visit his mother who lived in Delaware. While in the US he worked to better finance his music and soon returned home. When Bob Marley returned the Wailing Wailers' music evolved from Ska to Rock Steady. This evolution conflicted with Coxsone who wanted a Ska band. So the newly Wailing Wailers left Coxsone to form and renamed themselves the Wailers. Instead of looking around for a new label the Wailers decided to form their own which they called Wail 'N' Soul. This coincided with the birth of the Marley's first born who they named Cedalla. They released a couple signals on their label such as "Bend down low" and "Mellow Mood" before it folded the very same year.
The ending of their label affected the band greatly, it wasn't until they met Lee Perry that they got back on track. With the help of Lee Perry the Wailers produced such great tracks as "Duppy Conquerer", "Soul Rebel", "400 Years" and "Small Axe".
1970 saw the Wailers family grow with the addition of Aston "Family Man" Barret and his brother Carleton. The Wailers were now quite popular throughout the Caribbean but still internationally unknown. With this popularity a second more successful label was formed by the Wailers called Tuff Gong after a nickname of Bob Marley. The Wailers met Johnny Nash and soon Bob accompanied Nash to Sweden and London. When in London, Bob recorded "Reggae on Broadway" which was released by CBS. After this the rest of the Wailers arrived in London to help promote the single only to find that there were out of money and stranded there. With little options available, Bob went into the Island Records Basing Street Studios and asked to speak to the boss, Chris Blackwell with hopes of a possible record deal.
Mr. Blackwell had already heard of the Wailers and signed them on the spot. He advanced them eight thousand pounds so that they could fly back home and record their first album for Island. This was a massive deal, for the first time a reggae band would have access to the finest recording facilities. The album they released was "Catch a Fire", it was very well received by critics and was one of the first reggae albums. Before the Wailers reggae was sold on signals or compilation albums.
In the Spring of 1973 the Wailers arrived back in London to kick off their three month tour of Britain. At the conclusion of the tour they returned back to Jamaica where Bunny decided to quit touring. He was replaced by Joe Higgs. The Wailers along with Higgs travelled to the US were they were scheduled to open 17 shows for the number one black act in the States, Sly and the Family Stone. The Wailers were fired after 4 shows because they were more popular then they band the opened for, the crowd often chanted "Wail-ers" well into the Sly and the Family Stone set. Also they opened a couple dates for Bruce Springsteen. After Sly and the Family Stone axed the Wailers they found themselves once again without money and stranded, this time in Las Vegas. Somehow they found their way to San Fransico. While there they did a live concert broadcast for the radio station KSAN-FM. The whole experience boosted their popularity in North America.
With 1973 winding down the Wailers released the much anticipated follow up album to "Catch a Fire" called "Burnin". On this album many Wailer classics appear such as "I shot the Sheriff" and "Get Up Stand Up". The Wailers popularity in North America grew even more when Eric Clapton re-recorded "I Shot the Sheriff", becoming a number one hit on the US singles charts.
1975 saw the release of the Wailers's third album, "Natty Dread" with such great tracks as "Talking Blues", "No Woman No Cry" and "Revolution". On the down side though two thirds of the original Wailing Wailers, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer quit the band to pursue solo careers. This caused the band to change their name again. This time to Bob Marley and the Wailers. The departure of the two members created a hole in the backing vocal section, this hole was filled and then some by the I-Threes (Rita Marley, Judy Mowatts and Marcia Grittiths). That summer the band started a new European tour. Two of those shows were at the Lyceum Ballroom, both shows were considered among the top of the decade.
Both shows were recorded and made the album "Live!" which included the unforgettable live version "No Woman No Cry" which was a world wide hit. The band underwent more changes with the addition of Al Anderson and Bernard Harvey who were later replaced by Junior Marvin and Tyrone Downie. The last time the original Wailers ever played together was at a Stevie Wonder concert for the Jamaican Institute for the blind. Bob Marley and the Wailers continued their roll releasing the incredible album "Rasta man Vibration" in 1976. This capped off a type of Reggae-Mania happening in the states. Rolling Stone named them band of the year. On the Rasta man Vibration album was the powerful track "War" which lyrics came from a speech given by Emperor Haile Selassie. Bob Marley decided to play a free concert at Kingston's National Heroes Park on December 5, 1976.
The idea behind the concert was a peaceful message against the ghetto wars happening in Trenchtown at the time. Tragedy struck two days before that he get on stage, gunmen broke into the Marley home and shot at Bob, Rita, and two friends. Luckily no one was killed. Despite this Bob Marley went on to put on a memorable show two days later at the Smile Jamaica concert. Following the show the band left for the UK. While they were there they recorded 1977's "Exodus". Possibly their best album to date, it solidified the band's international stardom. It went number one in many countries including England and Germany. It was also one of the top albums of the year.
During their European tour, the band did a week of shows at the Rainbow Theatre in London. It was at the start of the tour when Bob injured his toe playing football. It was later diagnosed as cancerous. Also during this tour Bob received a very important ring, who's previous owner was the Ethiopian Emperor. In May Bob was informed of his cancer. His cancer would most certainly be taken care of by amputating the toe but Bob refused. To do so would be against his Rastafarian faith. With this news the remainder of the Exodus tour was cancelled. His illness didn't prevent him from recording music though, 1978 saw the release of "Kaya" which had a much more mellow sound then previous albums. Bob was accused of selling out because many of the songs were love songs or tributes to ganja (marijuana). Rastafarians believed the smoking the holy herb would bring them closer to Jah (god).
In April 1978, Bob returned to Jamaica to play the One Love Peace Concert. In attendance was Jamaican President Michael Manley and the leader of the Opposition Edward Seaga. It was Bob who got them on stage and even got them to shake hands. On June 15 he was awarded the Peace Medal of the Third World from the United Nations. For the first time he visited Africa going to Kenya and Ethiopia. On this trip he started to work on the song "Zimbabwe". The band also released their second live album "Babylon by Bus" with was recorded in Paris. The album which followed it was Survival in 1978. Throughout the album the theme of black survival was evident.
The Seventies were now coming to a close, Bob Marley and the Wailers were the most popular band on the road breaking many festival records. In 1980 the band found themselves in Gabon to perform in Africa for the first time. Here Bob Marley discovered that there manager had defrauded the band, Bob gave him a beating and fired him. The Zimbabwean government invited the whole band to perform at the countries Independence Ceremony in April. Bob later said of the invitation to be the biggest honour of his life.
After the amazing honour and experience Bob Marley continue to record, "Uprising" was released in 1980. Everything was looking bright, the band was planning an American tour with Stevie Wonder for that winter. Bob's health was deteriorating, but he still got clearance from a doctor to go on the road. The tour started with Boston, followed by New York. During the New York show Bob's looked very sick and he almost fainted. The next morning on Sept. 21 while jogging through Central, Bob collapsed and was brought to the hospital. There a brain tumour was discovered and doctors gave him a month to live. Rita Marley wanted the tour cancelled but Bob wanted to continue on. He played an unforgettable show in Pittsburgh but was too ill to continue so the tour was finally cancelled.
It would be the last show he ever performed. Treatment prolonged his life somewhat but the inevitable was soon to happening. Bob was transported to a Miami hospital where he was baptized Berhane Selassie in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on November 4. In a final attempt to save his life he underwent a controversial treatment in Germany. While in Germany he celebrated his 36th and final birthday. Ultimately the treatment didn't work. Bob wanted to die at home so he was flown back. Unfortunately he didn't finish the trip, he died on May 11, 1981 in a Miami hospital. He was internationally mourned for and thousands showed up at his May 21 funeral to show their respects. In attendance wereboth the Jamaican President and the Leader of the Opposition. Bob Marley now rests in a mausoleum at his birthplace.
After his death he was awarded Jamaica's Order of Merit. The Prophet Gad insisted on becoming the owner of Bob's ring. However, amazingly the ring the disappeared and still has yet to be found. Bob's mother said that the ring was returned to it's place of origin.
Bob Marley knew of his fate. Being a visionary he foresaw this, his words will forever be immortalized in the lyrics in which he wrote.

In the year 1944, Captain Norval Marley married a young Jamaican girl named Cedalla Booker. On February 6, 1945 at two thirty in the morning their son, Robert Nesta Marley was born in his grandfather's house. Soon after Bob was born his father left his mother. He did however give financial support and occasionally returned to see his son.
It was now the late fifties, jobs were scarce in Jamaica, so Bob followed his mother from their home in St. Ann to Trenchtown (West Kingston) to seek employment in the big city. Trenchtown got it's name because it was built over a ditch which drained the sewage of old Kingston. In Trenchtown Bob spent a lot of his time with his good friend Neville Livingstone who people called by his nickname, Bunny. Also in the big city Bob was more exposed to the music which he had loved, including such greats as Fats Domino and Ray Charles. Bob and Bunny attended a music class together which was held by the famous Jamaican singer Joe Higgs. In that class they met Peter Macintosh and soon became good friends.
In the meantime Jamaican music evolving and became very popular throughout the Caribbean due to it's invention of Ska music. When Bob was 16, he started to follow his dream of becoming a musician. Music to many young Jamaicans was an escape from the harshness of everyday life. One of those kids was Jimmy Cliff who at the age of 14 had already recorded a couple of hits. After meeting Bob, Jimmy introduced him to Leslie Kong, a local record producer. Bob followed his advice and auditioned for Leslie Kong. Bob's musical talents shone much more brightly then anyone else that day and found himself in the studio recording his first single "Judge Not". Unfortunately neither "Judge Not" nor his 1962 single "One more cup of Coffee" did very well. Bob soon left Kong after she failed to give him his pay.
The following year Bob, Bunny and some other friends formed the Wailing Wailers. The didn't get off to a great start, after just a couple recording sessions two members, Cherry and Junior Braithwait left the band. The band continued on and were introduced to Clemet Dodd, a producer of the record company Coxsone. It was here where the Wailing Wailers recorded the first song "Simmer Down" which did quite well in Jamaica. To help with the recording of their songs the studio provided several talented Ska musicians. The Wailing Wailers consisting now of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny were starting to become quite popular locally. Their audiences rapidly grew and they recorded several more songs on the Coxsone label which included "It Hurts to be Alone" and "Rule the Roadie" Bob soon took on the role of the leader, being the main songwriter and all.
Bob's life continued to look more bright on February 10, 1966 when Bob Marley married girlfriend Rita Anderson. The next day Bob left for the United States to visit his mother who lived in Delaware. While in the US he worked to better finance his music and soon returned home. When Bob Marley returned the Wailing Wailers' music evolved from Ska to Rock Steady. This evolution conflicted with Coxsone who wanted a Ska band. So the newly Wailing Wailers left Coxsone to form and renamed themselves the Wailers. Instead of looking around for a new label the Wailers decided to form their own which they called Wail 'N' Soul. This coincided with the birth of the Marley's first born who they named Cedalla. They released a couple signals on their label such as "Bend down low" and "Mellow Mood" before it folded the very same year.
The ending of their label affected the band greatly, it wasn't until they met Lee Perry that they got back on track. With the help of Lee Perry the Wailers produced such great tracks as "Duppy Conquerer", "Soul Rebel", "400 Years" and "Small Axe".
1970 saw the Wailers family grow with the addition of Aston "Family Man" Barret and his brother Carleton. The Wailers were now quite popular throughout the Caribbean but still internationally unknown. With this popularity a second more successful label was formed by the Wailers called Tuff Gong after a nickname of Bob Marley. The Wailers met Johnny Nash and soon Bob accompanied Nash to Sweden and London. When in London, Bob recorded "Reggae on Broadway" which was released by CBS. After this the rest of the Wailers arrived in London to help promote the single only to find that there were out of money and stranded there. With little options available, Bob went into the Island Records Basing Street Studios and asked to speak to the boss, Chris Blackwell with hopes of a possible record deal.
Mr. Blackwell had already heard of the Wailers and signed them on the spot. He advanced them eight thousand pounds so that they could fly back home and record their first album for Island. This was a massive deal, for the first time a reggae band would have access to the finest recording facilities. The album they released was "Catch a Fire", it was very well received by critics and was one of the first reggae albums. Before the Wailers reggae was sold on signals or compilation albums.
In the Spring of 1973 the Wailers arrived back in London to kick off their three month tour of Britain. At the conclusion of the tour they returned back to Jamaica where Bunny decided to quit touring. He was replaced by Joe Higgs. The Wailers along with Higgs travelled to the US were they were scheduled to open 17 shows for the number one black act in the States, Sly and the Family Stone. The Wailers were fired after 4 shows because they were more popular then they band the opened for, the crowd often chanted "Wail-ers" well into the Sly and the Family Stone set. Also they opened a couple dates for Bruce Springsteen. After Sly and the Family Stone axed the Wailers they found themselves once again without money and stranded, this time in Las Vegas. Somehow they found their way to San Fransico. While there they did a live concert broadcast for the radio station KSAN-FM. The whole experience boosted their popularity in North America.
With 1973 winding down the Wailers released the much anticipated follow up album to "Catch a Fire" called "Burnin". On this album many Wailer classics appear such as "I shot the Sheriff" and "Get Up Stand Up". The Wailers popularity in North America grew even more when Eric Clapton re-recorded "I Shot the Sheriff", becoming a number one hit on the US singles charts.
1975 saw the release of the Wailers's third album, "Natty Dread" with such great tracks as "Talking Blues", "No Woman No Cry" and "Revolution". On the down side though two thirds of the original Wailing Wailers, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer quit the band to pursue solo careers. This caused the band to change their name again. This time to Bob Marley and the Wailers. The departure of the two members created a hole in the backing vocal section, this hole was filled and then some by the I-Threes (Rita Marley, Judy Mowatts and Marcia Grittiths). That summer the band started a new European tour. Two of those shows were at the Lyceum Ballroom, both shows were considered among the top of the decade.
Both shows were recorded and made the album "Live!" which included the unforgettable live version "No Woman No Cry" which was a world wide hit. The band underwent more changes with the addition of Al Anderson and Bernard Harvey who were later replaced by Junior Marvin and Tyrone Downie. The last time the original Wailers ever played together was at a Stevie Wonder concert for the Jamaican Institute for the blind. Bob Marley and the Wailers continued their roll releasing the incredible album "Rasta man Vibration" in 1976. This capped off a type of Reggae-Mania happening in the states. Rolling Stone named them band of the year. On the Rasta man Vibration album was the powerful track "War" which lyrics came from a speech given by Emperor Haile Selassie. Bob Marley decided to play a free concert at Kingston's National Heroes Park on December 5, 1976.
The idea behind the concert was a peaceful message against the ghetto wars happening in Trenchtown at the time. Tragedy struck two days before that he get on stage, gunmen broke into the Marley home and shot at Bob, Rita, and two friends. Luckily no one was killed. Despite this Bob Marley went on to put on a memorable show two days later at the Smile Jamaica concert. Following the show the band left for the UK. While they were there they recorded 1977's "Exodus". Possibly their best album to date, it solidified the band's international stardom. It went number one in many countries including England and Germany. It was also one of the top albums of the year.
